Non vorrei citare ciò che appartiene al curriculum di Simonetta
Ferrante ma piuttosto ricollegarmi al ventaglio dei suoi interessi e
alle disparate esperienze che da questi derivano. Ciò indurrebbe a
supporre una molteplicità di stili e linguaggi adottati e verificati
in funzione delle fonti di provenienza. E tuttavia la persona come
presenza operante è pur sempre riconoscibile come lo è ciascuno
dalla calligrafia. E infatti calligrafia e stile corrono in questo
senso pressochè paralleli. Ma le fonti di provenienza dei linguaggi
adottati si fanno vive solo se acquisite e rivissute. Ciò presuppone
nell' artista uno strato più profondo dove domina cosciente o meno
la dimensione dell' esserci nel mondo vuoi come consapevolezza, vuoi
come tensione emotiva, vuoi come ansiosa istanza d' una presagita
verità interiore, protesa a riflettersi nella forma...
…Ed ecco, dopo un lungo periodo prevalentemente pittorico, la
preminenza accordata dalla Ferrante, nell' attività più recente, al
segno seguito e invocato come rassicurante struttura, ma soprattutto
eletto a congeniale linguaggio.
Ferrante strategy
I do not wish to dwell on what belongs to Simonetta Ferrante' s
curriculum vitae, but to refer instead to the variety of her
interests and to the different experiences these have sparked off.
This would lead one to suppose a multiplicity of styles and
languages adopted and verified in the terms of their origins.
However, the person as an operating presence is always recognizable,
as one is by one' s handwriting. And in fact calligraphy and style
in this sense run almost parallel. But the sources of origin of the
languages adopted only come to life if acquired and relived. This
presupposes in the artist a deeper level dominated, consciously or
not, by the dimension of being-in-the-world, whether in the sense of
awareness, or of emotional tension, or of an anxious inkling of a
presaged inner truth, ready to be reflected in form…
….And then, after a long period mainly of painting, the pre-eminence
accorded by Ferrante, in her more recent work, to the mark, pursued
and invoked as reassuring structure, but above all chosen as
congenial language.
